So in my previous post i said that i wanted to start "Elf on the Shelf" with my daughter so this is the first year, and its harder than it looks! Trying to come up with different places for the elf and to remember to move her each night... kinda hard! LOL. The story goes the child will name the elf and each night the elf will go back to the North Pole to talk to santa and let him know if you have been good or bad... that is why you are suppose to move the elf every night for 24 days. On the 24th day the elf will go back to the north pole until next year. In the book it ask for the child to name the elf, I asked Taylor what she would like to same her and i said "Holly, would be a nice name?" and Taylor said "No, i like the name Polly" soooo Polly Sprinkles is her name and she has been around for 3 days already and has been helping me keep taylor in check! We told Taylor that Polly the Elf brought with her 24 tiny gifts to give taylor 1 each night (most gifts were from the dollar tree/ walmart)
The First Night (found this particular idea on Pinterest!)
This is the first night that Polly made here appearance, thought it would be nice for her to bring taylor something special and a note from santa! The instructions were to take the magic seeds (which were green tree/leaf sprinkles) plant them in the Sugar and sprinkle snow (powder sugar) to watch something magical grow!
Taylor woke up Saturday morning all ready to go to dance class and saw Polly and everything... the look on her face was priceless... that look is why i do these all these little things, for my girls memories.
Nora and Taylor hanging out waiting for daddy to come home so she can open her advent gift.
Taylor opening her first gift... it was a plastic candy cane with M&M candies in it. The second day she got a snowman pez dispenser with candy.
Day 2 of Elf on the Shelf!!
Taylor woke up to her magic seeds growing into cookies :) she would not share... not one. I kept telling her polly was watching you and its not nice to share... and she said noo they are mine, polly made them for me not you. OMG.
On Day 2.... For some reason the Girl Elf on the shelf does not come with a skirt or anything.. they pretty much look like the boy elf but in the book the girl elf does have a skirt... but you have to buy it separate!! UGH.. of course Target was sold out of the skirts so i bought one on Ebay and it didn't come in on time for me to put it on Polly on Day 1... so Day 2 I had Polly on the sewing machine (pretending to make that skirt) and I rhinestoned her collar..now she is looking more girlie!!
Day 3... Polly was Cinderella for a day.
This was a tragedy because Taylor did not like Polly on Cinderella's horse... she said NOoooo mommy cinderella needs her crown, and her horse!! (In the book it says that you can not touch the elf or she will lose her magic) so sticking with what the book said, the entire afternoon i had to hear about this..finally we leave for the day and i put the kiddos in the car and run back inside to move polly just so i don't have to hear about Polly on the horse.. and I write this:
I stuck polly in the tree and wrote : You need to share... Naughty! Naughty!
So of course when we got home Taylor kept telling me that she was going to share with Polly from now on... LOL Yeah right... lets see if that happens!!! Even though taylor was a little bratty today she opened gift #3 and it was a Strawberry Shortcake coloring book :)
Let see what else Polly will be up to this Holiday!
